Access Control

Access to groups, galleries, collections, and individual photos is governed by access control settings associated with these objects. This chapter discusses what these settings are, how they are evaluated, and how they are presented in the API.

Access control attributes are represented by the access descriptor object that is associated with every group, gallery, collection, or photo. When you obtain a snapshot of any of these objects, the AccessDescriptor snapshot is embedded into the returned object snapshot.

This chapter covers the following topics:

Access Control Settings

Access Control Inheritance

Access Realms

Using the Keyring

It is also recommended to review access control settings as they are presented and defined for the end users in the Controlling Access to your Photos section of Help.
