Both will feature Zenfolio experts demonstrating all the features Zenfolio offers and answering questions about the service. In direct response to your feature request, we are pleased to announce that you can now sell videos on Zenfolio. Just like with photo downloads, you can sell video downloads in multiple sizes. To start selling videos create a new Digital Product, select “Video” as the product type, and add it to a price list. It’s that easy! If you plan to sell videos, please familiarize yourself with the updated Terms of Use that cover selling videos.

Along with selling, we’ve also added Access Control protections for videos so you can set the largest video size that will be shown to visitors. With this feature you’ll be able to delight clients with a preview of your videos at a lower-fidelity, while offering the full HD version available for purchase only.

New Video Downloading Options

In conjunction with our new video selling option we have also added support for downloading videos. This is available for you, and optionally for your clients.

Edit View

You can download the largest generated video size at any time from the Edit View. Videos will also be automatically included in full gallery downloads.

Visitor View

Want clients to be able to easily download your videos? Now you have that option. You can do this by going to Customize Visitor View | Page Options | Page Elements from a gallery and check the box to make videos downloadable. You can also control whether the “Download” link is shown in the toolbar for videos.

If you already show the option to save resized image sizes in the overlay menu, the option to save videos will now be shown as well. To limit the largest video size that will be shown or downloaded, go to the new Video Protection tab in Access Control.

Download Tracking

To help you keep track of everything, video downloads of all sizes are tracked in the Edit View. Click on the number of video downloads in the Toolbox to see details, including client information when available.

Sell an Entire Gallery as Downloads

We have added an exciting new option to Digital Download products that makes it easy to sell an entire gallery of photos or videos, all at once, as a digital download. You now have complete control over the minimum and maximum number of items in the download. And by choosing the “auto-fill” option clients will have their products automatically pre-filled with all available photos in one easy step.

Self-Fulfilled Product Improvements

There are now more ways to fine-tune your self-fulfilled products. Create products that apply to videos, like a wedding DVD, and set large products to auto-fill from a gallery.

Enhancements to Custom Templates Editor

We are continuing to improve our template editor to make it easier for you to create stunning designs that will WOW your clients. The editor is now resizable for more precise placement of placeholders. Text and photo placeholders can be duplicated to easily create multiple placeholders of the same size, and text placeholders that are duplicated will keep the same default text. We have also added alignment and spacing tools that function like those used in visual editing software, as well as the ability to edit placeholder sizes and positions directly in pixels for when exact measurements are needed.

In addition to these ease-of-use improvements, you can now create your own custom templates for a wider range of products. Choices include accordion minis, magazine covers, flat and folded cards, and much more (see below for a full list of new products).

Your clients will see improvements to template-based products as well. We have simplified the process of editing placeholder text and added a framing visualization for collages. Products that come in sets will now be marked that way to eliminate any confusion.

View Terms of Use

We are pleased to announce that we have added new functionality for you to create and sell custom greeting cards and magnets. Now you can delight your clients by providing them with unique greeting card designs for any occasion.

Creating custom designs is easy. Simply select a product, such as a flat or a folded greeting card, upload a background image and put placeholders for one or more photos onto the background. Next, add boxes for text, specify the occasion, add a preview image, and your design is ready to go.

Once you add this product to your price list your designs will be made available for your clients to purchase. Clients can then pick the design they like, put photos into placeholders, add text, and see a live preview before checkout.

This feature is currently available for greeting cards and magnets from Mpix and MpixPro labs We will be adding support for custom templates for other products and across all partner labs shortly.

Note that old greeting cards have been discontinued. Updated Shopping Cart and Checkout

We’ve made several updates to the shopping cart. Now your clients can choose a theme-birthdays, holidays, weddings, etc-and preview greeting card designs before purchase. We’ve also streamlined the process for selecting photos for packages and products with multiple images. These new cropping and options pages will make it easier for your clients to configure prints and products, add frames, or change product size. We’ve also improved the checkout flow, so your clients can breeze through it faster.

Updated Android App

The free app for mobile devices that run Android operating systems has been updated. It is now faster and compatible with more devices. Download the app from the Google Play Store.

European Union (EU) Cookies Law Compliance

Your visitors will now see a bar on top of the page informing them about cookies usage and linking to the cookies policy. This feature complies with the EU Law, which outlines how cookies are used for storing information on user’s devices.

Though you can’t see it on the surface, we’ve made some changes to our infrastructure that your customers will appreciate. Now they’ll get even faster loading, more responsive pages with large images and snappy navigation.

Support for StatCounter

We have added support for StatCounter, a popular free tool for monitoring and understanding website visitors. To use StatCounter with your site you first need to have an account with StatCounter, then attach the code they generate to your Zenfolio account. Play Videos in Slideshows

All Zenfolio slideshows can now play videos, in addition to photos. If videos are included in the source gallery or collection they will be play in sequence, along with the photos, creating a complete and dynamic presentation.

Turn Group pages into events

Similarly to how you customize the website Home page, you can now create events by turning Groups into mini-sites. By selecting a portfolio-style layout for a Group page, and then placing a slideshow with music and links to specific galleries, you can create personalized presentations for your clients. Selecting the layout with slideshow for an empty group allows you to present different categories of your portfolio as slideshows.

You will find these settings under Customize Visitor View | Page Layouts and Page Options while looking at a Group page.

Quick blog posts

Creating quick blog posts is now easy. Simply select a photo, add a short caption, and publish it on a blog with a single click. You will find Quick Blog posts in the Share window for any photo or directly on the Blog page in the Edit View. Look for Quick blog post publishing via free Zenfolio Android and iOS apps soon.

Tracking photo downloads

We’re happy to deliver on the long-standing request to be able to track how many times a photo has been downloaded and who downloaded it. Every photo now has a report available from the Toolbox that lists this information, including the names of your registered contacts. This information is available for all future downloads.

Issuing order discounts is now easier

Premium Business users can apply coupons after orders are placed by selecting from a list of available coupons. Even coupons that have expired can be retrieved and all the details displayed before they are applied.

Other enhancements:

• Support for replacing videos. You can replace a video with a different video file by uploading a new video first and then selecting the Replace menu on the original video. All links and comments will be preserved.
• Ability to reprint client order Receipts to resend to clients

Sharing made easier

Now it’s easier than ever to share your photos and promote your work. With the redesigned Share window you can conveniently share photos or galleries on popular social networks. You can also email links to galleries or individual image sizes, copy/paste shortened URLs, or even use the embed code to easily display your photos on forums or blogs with the link back to your gallery on Zenfolio. You can configure the new Share window under the Share tab in the Page Elements menu in the Customize Visitor View.

Integration with Pinterest

We now support image sharing via Pinterest, enabling you to promote your photos virally. The PinIt button can be displayed under every photo as well as in the new Share window, so your visitors can pin your photos on their pin boards. To enable the Pinterest button, go to the Page Elements menu in the Customize Visitor View.

If you want to make sure that your photos are not available for pinning on Pinterest, simply turn off the Pinterest Button from the Share window and hide it from your Photo Pages under Customize Visitor View>Page Elements.

Easily hide a gallery from visitors

When we say easily, we mean it: just check the box “Hide thumbnail from visitors” in the toolbox and the gallery will not be displayed on your website. However, you can still share the gallery by providing the URL to those you trust.

Using photos as thumbnails for videos (poster frames)

Now you can assign any photo as a thumbnail to represent a video. To do this, select “Change Video Thumbnail” from the video menu and either select a frame from the video or click the “Use a photo” tab and select any photo from your galleries.

Explicit ALT tags

When images are displayed on web pages there is usually an ALT tag included which typically contains a description of an image. This tag helps the discoverability of your photographs by search engines. Now you can explicitly set the ALT tag for the photos in your galleries to assist search engines with indexing and displaying your photos in relevant search results (this is also called Search Engine Optimization or SEO).

To create a tag you can type your own text into the ALT tag, or keep it the same as the photo title. You can find this feature in the Title and Description popup from the Toolbox in the Edit View.

More power for mobile sites

We’ve added more muscle to the mobile version of your website. Now when your clients open your website from a mobile device they will be able to use fully-functional guest books and post photo comments.

New products from Mpix

The following new products are now available for ordering through Mpix:

• Playing Cards – a standard deck of cards with your photo printed on the back of each card. They can be printed on stock or pearl paper and have a layer of protective coating on top.
• Small Clings – 7-inch round stickers available in 12 design templates plus a custom one. Clings are printed on premium material with light adhesive for easy-on and clean-off.

Self-fulfilled products – improved shipping options

If you offer self-fulfilled products to your clients, you might appreciate the improved configuration of shipping options. Amongst these options is the ability to specify the number of smaller packages that fit into larger packages, which will reduce shipping costs to your clients when multiple-sized packages are ordered.

Selling: digital product enhancements

Digital products are very popular with clients, so we’ve added a few useful enhancements to selling:

1. Choice to exclude digital orders from the approval workflow. If you set this option digital orders will be available for download right away, while prints and products will still require your approval before the order goes to the lab. This option is under the Approval Settings of Price Lists.
2. Digital licenses are now bundled with digital downloads. When your clients download their digital purchases the license text file will be included along with images. This way your clients can review or print the terms of license agreements after downloading files.
3. We will now be sending you an email notification when clients download photos from digital orders. If you prefer, you can unsubscribe from these notifications in your account preferences.
4. For every image in a digital order you will now see the status message showing whether the image has been downloaded or not.

Retouching services from Mpix, MpixPro, and Miller’s

Integration with retouching services from our flagship labs allows you to offer retouching services to your clients. Expert artists will put their finishing touches on your photos and erase the little hassles that can crop up in your favorite images. You can offer retouching services by packaging them with prints or by adding them to pending orders at the order approval step.

New products from the MpixPro lab

The following new products have been added from the MpixPro lab (for Premium Business subscribers):

• Luxe Frames – The stylish and elegant Luxe frames are available in four shapes and five colors. They come ready to hang with prints mounted to styrene and protected with Lustre coating.
• Print Wraps – Printed on photographic paper and laminated with a mounting block on the back, Print Wraps easily create that gallery look inside your client’s home.

Selling to tax-exempt organizations

If you sell to a non-profit or other tax-exempt organization and need to avoid charging the sales tax or VAT you can do so by creating a tax-exempt contact in your Contacts list. When a client uses the email address marked in the contacts list as tax-exempt during checkout the sales tax or VAT will not be charged. Note that all requests to create tax-exempt contacts will have to be reviewed and approved by Zenfolio.

Last product added to cart recall feature

After an order has been placed, the last three products will be displayed in the Buy menu allowing your clients to quickly purchase photos as the same product without the need to browse the product catalog every time.

We have updated the ORGANIZER in the Edit View to have a cleaner look with more room for long lists by grouping organizer items into sections. This style of expandable interface, also known as accordion, will soon find its way to other sections of the Edit View.

We have increased the maximum file size for photos to 64MB for Premium and Premium Business subscribers and to 36MB for Basic and Unlimited subscribers. Maximum duration for video was increased to 20 minutes for all accounts supporting video uploads.

Improvements to photo blogs and custom pages

When inserting photos into photo blogs or custom pages, the default size option now is set to Auto-fit images to the page. No more guessing on the image dimensions.

And you can now just as easily insert self-running slide shows right from the menu bar. The slideshow configuration popup guides you through the steps of selecting a gallery and an optional soundtrack, configuring opening/closing slides, choosing colors and control buttons, and specifying the final size. And you can just as easily edit embedded slide shows if you need to make a change.

Updates to Mobile sites

• Mobile site pages now include the option to save and share Favorites
• The Pinch-to-zoom gesture is now available while viewing photos in your mobile browser
• Added an option to disable displaying Mobile site pages under Customize Visitor View | Site Settings

Improvements to VAT and units of measure switching

Premium and Premium Business subscribers in the UK and Europe can see value added tax (VAT) calculated in Price Lists per product (if VAT was specified under SELLING | VAT) and included in Reports making VAT reporting much simpler.

Added an option to Add to Cart to manually switch Units of measure from Inches to Cm and back. This is in addition to automatically detecting client preferences and displaying corresponding unit of measure. All products shipping to Europe have dimensions available in either units.

Photography Blogs

Have your portfolio, client galleries, and a blog – all in one place. Every Zenfolio account gets a fully integrated photo blog while maintaining the same design identity and allowing for an easy showcase of photos and videos in blog posts. You can choose from a selection of professional layouts for your blog pages: show full articles, or display short abstracts with images inviting your visitors to explore further.

Your Blog is available in the Organizer. If you have an existing blog hosted somewhere else, you can import recent posts using the RSS feed. And when you are ready to share your blog, link to it from the Site Menu by selecting Blog as one of the Built-in Pages.

Premium Business: Multi-user Accounts

Grant access to the people who need it. Premium Business subscribers are now able to grant partial management access to their website through user subaccounts.

Different levels of management access can be assigned to accommodate the need for Assistants, Accountants, Contributing Photographers, etc. to have limited access while account owner maintains full control over their access privileges. This was one of the most popular requests from photographers running multi-shooter studios as well as larger organizations.

User Administration is available under the ACCOUNT link from the main menu in the Edit View.

Mobile Browsing

Your website hosted by Zenfolio now has an equally smooth browsing experience whether clients are using a mobile device or a standard browser. The website will be automatically presented in the layout optimized for mobile browsing when opened from a mobile phone (iPhone and Android are currently supported).

Clients are able to easily navigate through your entire portfolio or a single gallery on-the-go with smooth touch-navigation, swipes, and menus designed specifically for mobile screens. And we will be continually improving the experience after the initial launch.

Improvements to Text Editor

We have made several important updates to the Rich Text Editor used for editing Custom Pages and Blog posts. Inserting and changing images and videos has been simplified. Images can now use Theme styling for borders and decorations. We have also added new table formatting features – they are available when right-clicking inside a table cell. The Editor's toolbar received a facelift to make it easier to use.

Google+ Integration

You can increase the exposure for your website by displaying the Goolge+ button on your Home page and linking it to your Google+ page. Update your Contact Information with the Google+ page URL and it will be automatically updated on your Home page.

Sites with Custom Domain Names can take advantage of CDN

We have added CDN (Content Distribution Network) support for websites with custom domain names. To take advantage of the global Akamai CDN network, configure your domain name with a CNAME record pointing to custom.zenfolio.com. This will improve the viewing experience of your website for visitors from anywhere in the world.

The iPhoto Upload plug-in has been updated. Photos can now be uploaded without any resizing, uploading videos is now supported, and a few smaller issues have been addressed. The minimum system requirements to use the plug-in are Mac OS 10.6 and iPhoto 7 (iLife '08) and higher.

Other enhancements:

• Added video duration indication to Visitor View
• Added API support for video
• Improved performance of loading Slideshows, especially for users outside North America

Increase the exposure of your work and attract new admirers by allowing your visitors to share links to your pages on the Google+ Social Network. The +1 button from Goolge+ can be displayed on gallery and photo pages. When your visitors click the button, the link to the gallery or the photo is added to their Google+ stream. You can show or hide the button in the Page Elements tab of the Page Options dialog in the Customize Visitor View mode.

Display Facebook and Twitter buttons on your Homepage

Promote your Facebook Fan Page and your Twitter Stream by displaying Facebook and Twitter buttons on your homepage. You can specify the links to your Facebook Fan Page and your Twitter Stream in the Contact Information section of the Public Proile. Then you can turn on the buttons in the Page Elements tab of the Page Options dialog in the Customize Visitor View mode.

Customize your Drop-down Menus

Create beautiful and helpful site navigation for your visitors with the ability to fully customize the look of your drop-down menus. You can customize your drop-down menus in Elements tab of the Theme Designer by specifying background color, border color, font size, and other options with a simple point-and-click.

Staged rollout based on the year you first signed up for Zenfolio: 2006 and 2007 accounts are enabled now

We are rolling out support for video in stages starting with our most loyal customers with accounts opened in 2006 and 2007: these accounts have been enabled with video.

We will be enabling 2008 accounts within a few weeks followed by accounts opened in subsequent years. You will receive an e-mail from us when your account is enabled with video hosting.

UPDATE: accounts from 2008 have been enabled.

Video Hosting up to 1080p HD quality

We are supporting video files up to 2GB in size and up to 15 minutes long. There is no limit on the number of video clips you can upload but keep in mind that, unlike photos, we do not keep the original files once they are converted into multiple streaming formats on Zenfolio.

You can get an embed link to any video at any size, and you can upload your own logo to be used with a video player (under ACCOUNT | Display Name and Logos). You can also select a different Video Thumbnail to represent the video.

Our custom-built video player will default to automatically selecting the best quality supported by your Internet connection (including iPhones and iPads). You can also explicitly select the quality you wish to view and it will be remembered.

We are also introducing new page layouts optimized for navigating and viewing a collection of video clips. You can find these layouts under Photo Page | Layouts while in the Customize Visitor View mode.

Introducing Drop-Down Site Menus

By popular request, we have added the ability to create drop-down site menus on your pages. This allows you to create more convenient navigation from any page. To edit the site menu, switch to the Customize Visitor View and select Site Menu from the top toolbar.

Updated Embeddable and Home Page Slide Shows

We have revamped the embeddable slide show and included new features such as:

• creating opening and closing slides
• choice of light or dark controls
• ability to publish password-protected slide shows
• customizing “Visit Gallery” text
• updated navigation controls

The page for configuring the embeddable slide show was completely redesigned.

We have also updated the Home page slide show. It now includes a choice of light or dark color controls and the option to display square thumbnails.

Improved Support for Touch-Devices and Tablets

We went through all visitor pages and greatly improved the usability for touch-navigation including your Shopping Cart and checkout pages. We have created a new HTML5 slideshow that can be used on non-Flash devices such as iPhones and iPads. And for managing your photos, don’t forget about our free iOS app in the Apple store.

Other new features:

• Previews for specialty photo products such as t-shirts, mugs, and magazine covers are now much larger
• Selection of photos has been streamlined for visitors, no more checkboxes over every thumbnail and it now works on an iPad, too
• Free test order is now available from the One Vision Imaging lab. The lab will print 3 color corrected and 3 uncorrected images free of charge as 7” x 5” prints so you can match to and calibrate your display.
• Five new Theme designs: Education, Holidays, Halloween, Silk, and Stripes.
• New photo page layout: Thumbnails on the left, is a mirror of our most popular Thumbnails on the right layout
• New video page layouts: Video Thumbnails on the right and Video Thumbnails on the left. These layouts have been optimized for presenting a directory of video clips to browse and navigate with full size thumbnails and relevant information displayed.
• Photo overlay menu in Visitor View is now smaller and expands on mouse hover

• Packages have been added to Reports

The new uploader utilizes the latest HTML5 technologies introduced in modern web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It does not require installation of any additional software or plug-ins. Simply drag-and-drop your photos onto the uploader and click the Start Upload button to transfer photos to your account. You can continue adding files to the queue while upload is in progress, and you can now take advantage of multiple upload connections to better utilize available bandwidth.

To access the new uploader you need to use the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers (Internet Explorer users continue to use the available ActiveX uploader).

This is something that was requested a lot and it is finally here. In addition to the built-in pages provided with your account (such as About, Contact, Search, etc) you can now create any number of your own Custom Pages and link to them from the Site Menu or from anywhere else.

No coding is required to create these pages as you can use Rich Edit Controls similar to what you would find in Word or Outlook. You can use formatting tools, create tables, insert any photo from your Zenfolio account (naturally) as well as embed objects from other services such as videos (YouTube, Vimeo, Animoto, etc) slideshows, banners, buttons, etc.

Each page gets its own URL and you can edit the Title and META description fields. You can also control whether pages are crawled by search engines.

If you know your way around HTML you can also switch to a Source mode and edit directly at your own risk.

Digest page with Photo Comments and Guestbook Entries

In addition to the e-mail notifications you receive whenever a new comment is posted, there is now a single place where all photo comments and guestbook entries are shown in chronological order. You can find this digest page under the My Zenfolio header at the top of the Organizer.

This page provides an easy way to process all the posts as you filter them by gallery/group/collection and use text search. You can also easily add names of new people to your Contacts List and moderate/delete posts.

Comments Moderation: Approve Before Publishing

We have added the one missing piece of being able to approve photo comments and guestbook entries before they are made public. This is something familiar to blog users and we are happy to add this to the site. To enable moderation, select the item in the Organizer and go under the Access Control | Comments tab.

It is also now possible to turn any public post to a private post instead of deleting it. And if you do decide to delete, the post will now be removed permanently instead of just being hidden.

Exporting Contact List

Hopefully, you are enjoying the Contacts List feature and have been accumulating names and e-mail addresses of your visitors and clients. If you would like to use your favorite e-mail marketing service for ongoing communications, you can now Export this list out of Zenfolio as a CSV file and import it into your favorite broadcast tool.

Other enhancements include:

• Improvements to Favorites selection and visibility
• Added ability to Buy and Add to Favorites from the Dim-the-Lights mode
• Consolidated visitor Download menu now also includes saving smaller image sizes, if enabled
• Buying from a Thumbnails page now offers clients a choice to “Buy All” or to go back and make a selection first
• Added a warning to the Cropping window that any white space included in the crop rectangle will be actually printed
• Thumbnails page can now be hidden selectively on a per gallery or collection level. You can control this from the Customize Visitor View | Page Options | Thumbnails tab. Previously, this was a global setting (all or none).

Test Calibration Order for MpixPro [Premium Business users]

We have added the ability to place one free test order with MpixPro to make sure your workflow and monitor calibration are matching printed output. MpixPro will print your photos “as is” with no corrections or enhancements applied so it is critical that you match what you see on your screen with the prints. To help with that, you can now select 5 photos and have them printed as 8x10 prints. They will be delivered to you by FedEx overnight and there is no charge for this test order.

You will see the option to place this order from the Edit View after you click the Buy link.

This is something we have been planning to add for a long time and it is finally here. The Contact List allows you to keep track of your registered clients, clients who have ordered from you in the past, as well as visitors signing in to view your photos. You can then easily send e-mails to selected contacts and even tag them with specific galleries or events to make things easier to sort through.

We have auto-populated your list with historical data so you may see many contacts there already. You can also import contacts from Outlook and Gmail, as well as add them manually.

E-mailing Shopping Cart

Anyone can now send a Shopping Cart by e-mail. This allows you to build a Shopping Cart and send it to someone else to checkout, or have people send their carts to you for assistance. Just look for the E-mail Cart link at the top of the Shopping Cart page.

Collect Visitor Information

You can ask your visitors to provide their information before viewing photos. This can be required or optional and can be turned on in the Toolbox for any group, gallery, or collection. You can specify what information visitors are being asked and they get added to your Contact List automatically.

Be More Social

Facebook added support to their API for uploading photos to fan pages and you can now do that directly from your Zenfolio account. In addition to exporting photos to your personal profile on Facebook, you can now also upload to your business fan pages. Look for this under the Export to Facebook option.

We have added the option to display Facebook ‘Like’ and Twitter ‘Tweet’ buttons to thumbnail and photo pages in the Visitor View. The buttons are hidden from the pages for all current users but you can enable them under Customize Visitor View | Page Options.

New features available to PREMIUM and PREMIUM BUSINESS users

Gift Certificates

Create Gift Certificates and give them to your clients to use as payment during Checkout. There is no extra fee for using gift certificates, your account will be charged standard service fees and the cost of fulfilling products. You can find Gift Certificates under SELLING.

Expiring Galleries and Groups

Introducing the ability to set a Gallery or Group to expire on a set date. This can be a useful marketing tool especially combined with the new ability to schedule e-mail reminders. Look for an hourglass icon under Access Control and follow the prompts.

Client Access Code and Page

Simplify client proofing by giving your clients a code to enter on the new Client Access Page. After entering the code clients will be taken directly to their photos.

To start using this feature, first go under ACCOUNT | Client Access Page and fill out information. Then add a new item to your Site Menu and link it to the new Client Access built-in page. Actual codes can be generated in the Toolbox under the Links and Client Access section.

If you are using external website, you can link directly to the Zenfolio Client Access Page from your website menu. You will find the URL to link to under ACCOUNT | Client Access Page.

New features available to PREMIUM BUSINESS users

Discounted MpixPro FedEx Shipping

• Orders from MpixPro with over $11 in product cost can receive flat $4.50 FedEx shipping
• Orders with product cost less than $11 qualify for discounted FedEx shipping calculated dynamically
• In addition, orders with product cost over $100 qualify for free FedEx shipping

This discounted FedEx shipping is available to photographers only and not visible to clients. It can be selected in Order Details during order Approval.

Other new features include:

• You can now specify Sales Tax to be applied to Digital Downloads in addition to regular orders. This is an option under SELLING | Sales Tax [PREMIUM and PREMIUM BUSINESS].
• In the Add to Cart window, descriptions of available photo papers are now dynamically inserted into product descriptions to make paper selection easier [ALL USERS]
• Added new options for printing Canvas Gallery Wraps from Mpix and MpixPro: Mirrored sides, White sides, Black sides [ALL USERS]
• Sales Reports can be filtered by specific Galleries and Groups any way you wish [PREMIUM and PREMIUM BUSINESS]
• When a full-screen slideshow is opened in a browser window, we’ve added a link to viewing gallery pages [ALL USERS]
• While reviewing order details you can now sort items by File Names or Titles in addition to the way the order was placed [PREMIUM and PREMIUM BUSINESS]
• Added an easy way to make Cover Photo visible to all even if a gallery or group itself is Password-protected. You will find this under Access Control at the bottom of the Access tab [ALL USERS].
• Replacing a photo in an order during Approval can now replace the original photo in the gallery at the same time. This option was added to the bottom of the Replace/Change Photo window from the Order Details page [PREMIUM and PREMIUM BUSINESS].
• Phone numbers on the Contact Us page are no longer automatically formatted. They will appear exactly as you type them [ALL USERS].
• Password-protected items are now included in search results. Viewers will still need to type in their password to view photographs [ALL USERS].

We know many of you are anxious to start offering product packages and we are very happy to make them available. The Shopping Cart had to be updated to accommodate packages and multi-image products so we took this opportunity to completely redesign it based on the feedback we've received over time. We are very proud of how the new Cart looks and we hope you would agree that the new Checkout process has been greatly improved.

In this release we are also addressing your feedback about offering an even more professional subscription level with support for the high quality products from MpixPro. The new Premium Business subscription plan gives you full control over order editing so you can make pretty much any change you want including issuing refunds, changing shipping destinations, and adding promotional products.

Creating and Selling Packages

Premium subscribers can create and sell single photo packages and multi-photo packages. Single photo packages allow clients to select one photo and have a number of products printed with that photo. Multi-photo packages allow clients to select a number of photos and assign them to print as specific designated products. In either case, you set one price for the package making it simple and economical for your clients to shop.

To get started, login to your account and go under SELLING | Packages. After package is created, you can add it to any price list.

Brand new Shopping Cart and Checkout pages

• Cart page is cleaner and more intuitive
• Streamlined and easy to use Checkout pages
• Shopping Cart and Checkout pages no longer have Zenfolio branding, if disabled by user. By default, Cart and Checkout pages follow the Home page Theme but a new Theme can also be assigned under Customize Visitor View.
• Orders related e-mails have a neutral design with no Zenfolio branding
• Shopping Cart includes full support for buying Packages and multi-image products
• Clients are given the option to register for a Client account and have their Shopping Cart saved there for the future. This way, the Cart will never expire.
• COMING SOON: ability to share/e-mail a Cart before order is placed
• Displaying real B&W and Sepia previews
• Larger previews of products being selected, updated product icons
• Better upselling of frames, mounting, and finishing services

Introducing a new built-in page Login or Register, which includes the option to login or register for a new Client account. There is no Zenfolio branding displayed anywhere during Client account registration or account management. Registered clients are able to access their Order history, Profile, Favorites, and Shopping Cart using photographer-branded client account pages.

Photographers may also choose to provide their own e-mail address to have order-related e-mails be sent on their behalf. This can be configured under SELLING | Client Communications.

As a result, all order related activities can now be fulfilled under the photographer's name including credit card receipts and e-mail communications.

Introducing Premium Business subscription plan. Plan includes:

1. Support for ordering and selling products from the MpixPro lab
2. Photographers can make changes to pending orders after orders were placed including:
• Having orders shipped to themselves before delivering
• Removing/changing items in the order

We know many of you have been waiting patiently for the Packages functionality to arrive, so before you ask, the packages functionality is there, but you can't see it yet. It is buried deep in the code as we are not quite finished with the user interface for this big feature. We had to make a hard decision to postpone the final release of the packages so we can bring you several other new features that were ready to be released.

Featured Products

It is now possible for photographers to select a list of featured products that will appear directly on gallery or photo pages in the Visitor View. This feature vastly increases the exposure of products and pricing and encourages your visitors to purchase. The list of featured products can be configured for each price list (Premium feature). For Basic and Unlimited accounts, the Featured Products list displays a selection of popular products from our partner labs.

Increase sales with Coupons

The popular Coupons feature now has even more flexibility:

• You can create coupons that can be applied to specific galleries, collections, or groups.


• You can now provide your customers with shipping discounts in addition to the product discounts.


• Coupons can be restricted to specified product types: Prints and Products fulfilled by our partner labs, Digital Downloads, Products that you fulfill yourself, or Packages (in the near future).

More pages for your web site

We added new types of built-in in pages for building your unique web site: the Guestbook Page, the Featured Galleries Page, and the Recently Added page. You can link to these pages from your site menu to streamline the navigation through your site and to make your home page clean and professional.

Add to Cart is renamed to Buy

By popular request, the 'Add to Cart' button is now called 'Buy' and is moved to be the first button in the top right corner of visitor pages, making it more prominent and actionable. Our studies confirmed that the new name generates better response from clients, leading to increased sales.

Price List Editing - Simplified

The redesigned price list editing interface makes it easier and faster to customize price lists by breaking tasks into separate logical pages. We added the option to turn off the Best Fit subcategory in the Add to Cart popup. This useful, but less known feature recommends products with a aspect ratio matching the selected image. However, when photographers carefully pre-configure products for specific image sizes, this option is not needed and now can be turned off.

Export to Animoto

You can now export your images to Animoto, a popular service that automatically creates beautiful and unique slideshows from your images.

Edit View Enhancements

We've made useful enhancements to the Edit View:

• Added an indicator showing the number of selected images
• It is now possible to assign a cover photo to a gallery/collection from any other gallery

New Themes

Five new Zenfolio themes and corresponding templates are added. These themes were created entirely using the Zenfolio Theme designer. You can use them as is, or use them as a starting point for creating your own unique themes.

New Gallery Layout

We added the new "Right to Left" Gallery Layout for Thumbnail pages of the Visitor view. The new layout is symmetrical to the current "Left to Right" layout and works great for displaying the list of Featured Products.

Custom Products – note to photographer

Customers can now add a note with instructions for the photographer when ordering custom products. Photographers refer to the note when reviewing orders, which allows addressing specific client's needs.

Hiding the number of photos

Added a CVV option which allows hiding the number of photos in a gallery on visitor photo and gallery pages.

Transparent slideshow background

When creating a custom theme you can specify the homepage slideshow background to be transparent.

Sound as Good as You Shoot

You can now upload your own music files to be played along with your images (make sure you have the rights to use the music you upload). Uploaded soundtracks can be selected to play when a visitor enters your portfolio Home page, views a full-screen Slideshow, or along with embedded slide show on external web sites. File formats supported for upload include MP3 and unprotected AAC files (with no DRM) up to 24MB in size.

Triple Scoop Music Partnership

We are very proud to announce the partnership with Triple Scoop Music. Some of you are familiar with TSM as a music licensing service specializing in world-class music for photo, video, and website presentations. TSM offers award winning music by an impressive list of independent artists, including Grammy and Emmy winners.

Through our partnership with Triple Scoop Music we were able to give all Zenfolio subscribers 50 free songs to use in your account at no additional charge. Additional 100 premium songs are available on a subscription basis for $40/year for all 100 songs, or $20/year for a 25-song collection. This is a real bargain considering that individual songs directly from Triple Scoop Music retail for $60 each. You can preview the available collections.

Music can be assigned by switching to Customize Visitor View mode and selecting the Soundtrack menu from the top bar. Embeddable slideshows now have soundtracks listed on the configuration page.

Selecting Favorite Photos Made Simple (Premium feature)

Clients of Premium Zenfolio subscribers can now create lists of favorite photos and share them with their photographer and others. Photos can be selected from gallery thumbnail pages using the new multiple-selection functionality, or by selecting large images one-by-one. Once added to favorites, photos can be further sorted using a drag-and-drop interface to create a sequenced list, such as for an album or a slide show.

Once a photographer receives a shared Favorites set from a client, it can be edited, converted to a Zenfolio Collection, or downloaded. This Premium feature allows photographers and their clients to collaborate in real time over the Favorites' sets which is useful for refining purchasing selections, downloading original files, deleting undesirable photos, and a lot more.

Add-on Services

With this release we are introducing Add-on Services which are available as additions to your main subscription plan. The first such add-on service is Music from TSM, and we have more services planed. Your list of active Add-on Services can be managed from the new My Subscriptions page under your ACCOUNT.

Multiple-selection and Photo Toolbar

Other notable improvements in visitor interaction include the ability to select multiple photos at once while looking at a thumbnails page. A Photo Toolbar appearing above the selection makes it easy to Add To Favorites, Add to Cart, or Download selected photos (if allowed). The multiple-selection feature can be controlled selectively for each gallery/collection under Customize Visitor View | Page Options.

New XX-Large Image Size

New XX-Large image size is now available with dimensions up to 1550px horizontally or 960px vertically. This new image size is designed to fill screen resolutions of 1900x1200 and higher and improve the quality of Dim-the-Lights and full-screen Slideshow playback on large screens. You need to enable this new size in order for it to be generated and displayed to your visitors. Follow these instructions on how to control allowed image sizes.

Slideshow Updates

The full-screen Slideshow received a small update in a form of a redesigned Captions window (it is smaller and lighter-weight in appearance), a separate optional display of EXIF, and a new loading animation that is more attractive. We have more slideshow updates in the works, so stay tuned.

Updated Selling Reports

We've taken your feedback and updated Selling Reports to better reflect the details of sales transactions. Reports now include only orders you have sold to customers and, as before, any orders placed by you can be found under ORDERS. We have updated the naming of the line items in all of the Reports to make sure they match customer receipts. In addition, you can now download more complete details of your customers' orders as a CSV file.

Other Enhancements:

• Optimized photo pages to more aggressively display larger vertical images


• New page added under ACCOUNT | My Subscription. This page includes information about your current subscription plan, any add-on services, account expiration date, etc


• Fixed a problem with downloading original photos from really large galleries (2,000+ photos)

This is one of the biggest release efforts we have undertaken as a company, made possible by the constant encouragement we have received from you, our users, through the forums, Facebook, and Twitter. With this release, Zenfolio becomes the most complete service to affordably and professionally manage all aspects of your photography online.

The following new functionality and enhancements are available immediately for all users:

Portfolio Home Page Layouts

You can now create portfolio Home pages with a large customizable slideshow and logo branding. Seven new Home page layouts were added covering most configurations of portfolio-style sites. The old directory-style Home page layouts are still available but you really owe it to yourself to at least preview the new portfolio layouts. Every photographer deserves a stylish and polished entry into their site.

As part of the new layouts, you can now upload two logo sizes to be used throughout your pages (this is done under Public Profile). And there is a new optional field for a Welcome message to be displayed on the Home page. There are a seemingly infinite number of combinations of different layouts and elements that can be arranged on your Home page, so take some time to experiment and create a clean and compelling design. To access the new layouts, switch to Customize Visitor View and navigate to your Home page.

Other Home page options include:

• Configuring slideshow by selecting a gallery or collection from your Organizer (for the best presentation we recommend creating a special collection of carefully picked landscape images of the same size)


• The ability to select "dynamic" page configuration which can either maximize the size of the slideshow images or leave enough space to display other elements


• The ability to fix the width of your Home page to a fixed size that will fit and look the same on all screens


• Many alignment combinations for logos and other page elements helping achieve the best configuration given your unique content

Portfolio style Home page layouts are available to all Zenfolio subscribers including Basic, Unlimited, and Premium levels. Uploading your own logos is a Premium feature.

Persistent Site Menus

No real web site can exist without a persistent site menu throughout all pages to ensure a consistent and uniform browsing experience. You can build your site menu any way you like and include links to any gallery, collection or group, as well as to new built-in About, Contact, and Search pages. Creating a site menu is available to all Zenfolio subscribers including Basic, Unlimited, and Premium levels.

Site menu items can also link to external sites such as a blog or stock agency. Premium users can also upload PDF documents with customer testimonials and price lists, and link site menus to them.

Other enhancements related to web site structure include:

• A dedicated and linkable About page with the option to include your photo


• A dedicated and linkable Contact page with the option to include an e-mail form


• A linkable Search page, now configurable by photographer


• You can specify where site menu items are displayed: Home page, page header, page footer, or any combination of that. Site menu items can be reordered at any time using drag-and-drop.

An elegant portfolio entry combined with uniform site navigation gives you unprecedented flexibility in hosting your entire online presence under one roof.

Theme Designer

The new release introduces the Zenfolio Theme Designer, a groundbreaking new tool used to design and customize pages with a highly intuitive and polished interface. The Theme Designer enables you to have full control of the graphical elements on the pages along with a professional color model-base which suggests colors that are aesthetically designed to work together for a more attractive presentation. With the Zenfolio Theme Designer, the complicated task of editing CSS code has been replaced with a simple point and click tool. Buttons, backgrounds, menu styles, thumbnails, and image treatments are all available for customization to a discerning visual designer.

The Theme Designer includes two main tabs: Style and Elements. The Style tab allows you to define the overall color scheme as well as common styles which will apply to all pages and elements. With just a few clicks, you can easily create an attractive Theme that will work well for all pages. The Elements tab allows you to manually customize individual elements and override any style definitions which apply to them.

The Theme Designer is available to all subscribers including Basic, Unlimited, and Premium levels. You can begin creating new themes by selecting Custom Themes at the bottom of your Organizer in the Edit View.

As an added bonus, the new custom themes can be easily exported and imported, making it easy for photographers to share designs within the Zenfolio community.

Other Theme Designer features include:

• The ability to upload your own custom graphics for almost any visual element that can utilize them


• The ability to select from a number of provided graphics for image and background treatments. The list of provided graphics will continue to grow over time.


• The ability to base your new theme design on a pre-made template. The list of templates will continue to grow over time.


• Access to five color models suggesting colors based on your initial color selection. This helps ensure that chosen page colors work well together aesthetically. This is a very powerful tool equally helpful for professional and non-professional designers.


• The ability to control fonts, sizes, and font treatments (the list of fonts most commonly available on the web is included)


• A virtually unlimited number of Undo(s)

Customize Visitor View Mode Redesign

To accommodate new functionality for Visitor page customizations, the Customize Visitor View mode has been redesigned making it more intuitive and streamlined, at the same time expanding the range of controls and options accessible through this mode.

Of notable importance, Galleries and Collections now have three different tabs for each related page: Thumbnails, Photo, and Slideshow (new). Each tab controls the corresponding page while preserving the relationship of being from the same set of photos.

Related Customize Visitor View enhancements include:

• Ability to inherit a Theme from the Home page making it super easy to have all your pages follow the same Theme so you can change it in one place only


• Global controls: Site Menu and Site Settings


• New and updated Layout and Theme icons (including auto-generated previews for your custom Themes)


• Tab controls in Page Options to help organize the growing number of items

New Full Screen Slideshow

With this release we are introducing a completely redesigned Flash-based Slideshow available from every thumbnail and photo page. The new Slideshow is truly full-screen and is the result of experience gained through several redesigns of our previous HTML-based Slideshow (which continues to be the seamless default option for viewers with no Flash installed).

The new Slideshow is now fully configurable by photographer, with the ability to hide/show various controls and enforce specific settings and preferences. The Slideshow configuration can be accessed through the newly redesigned Customize Visitor View | Page Options while the Slideshow tab is selected.

Search Engine Optimizations (SEO)

Included in the new release are SEO enhancements to all Zenfolio pages. You now get control of the search positioning with access to webmaster tools from the top search engines, including Google, bing, and Yahoo! Additionally, site maps are now generated and served for each users' site to further help search crawlers discover and index publicly viewable content. These enhancements further ensure that your site is visible in search results for potential buyers and viewers.

Furthermore, green SEO symbols were added throughout the Edit View helping you identify text fields that are typically included in the search index. This helps emphasize the importance of text descriptions and keywords.

Photos can be easily excluded from search engine indexing by setting Access Control to not allow including in public search.

Edit View Updates

The Organizer was completely rewritten to make it faster and more robust. Content is now loaded dynamically resulting in a more interactive experience. Enhancements to the Edit View include:

• The ability to drag-and-drop galleries/collections/groups into manual sorting positions


• The ability to control the root group of your photo hierarchy All Photographs by renaming it and creating a friendly URL (highly recommended for SEO)


• The addition of Watermarks to the Organizer to make them more discoverable


• The new My Zenfolio/HOME dashboard with common tasks and useful content


• Public Profile is now a separate set of pages under the ACCOUNT

We have made many more enhancements based on the feedback we have received from you over time. These are the most notable changes:

• There is a new global Site Setting option under Customize Visitor View allowing you to skip gallery/collection thumbnail page taking the viewer directly to the first large image in the set


• New My Zenfolio menu bar at the top of Visitor pages


• Invitation e-mails have been redesigned to make them work with custom themes. They are more professional and clean-looking.


• Added dedicated Twitter and Facebook fields to Contact Information page


• Shopping Cart is now displaying photo titles, gallery titles, and image dimensions to help with the selection during ordering. If you would like file names to be visible during ordering, you can copy them to photo Titles using the Description dialog in the Edit View.


• Removed the Content hosted by Zenfolio link from the bottom of all Visitor pages


• Added a redesigned Zenfolio branding badge to the header when Zenfolio branding is not removed from Visitor pages


• Added new 20"x 20" product size from fotoflōt


• Subcategory Detail: Mexico was moved from Central America to North America (how did it get there in the first place?)

NOTICE: with this release, we no longer actively test the Edit View with Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) web browser. We continue testing IE6 with Visitor pages.

We are excited to announce a new partner on the Zenfolio platform: PictureItPostage by Endicia. This new vendor allows you to order customized USPS Postage stamps in almost any denomination with your favorite image. These are large high quality stamps and they will look great on a holiday card or a wedding or baby invitation. You can give personalized stamps as special gifts, and Zenfolio Premium users can sell stamps with their own markup. Photos must comply with the USPS allowed images guidelines.

You can see the list of all available stamp products in the PictureItPostage product list. These products are available in US Dollars only.

Password-protecting original file downloads

We know many of you have been asking for this feature, and we are happy to make this available. You can now keep the photos public and only give out password for downloading original files to those few who need them. The password assignment is under the Access Control | Image Protection tab, and there is an optional password hint.

Enhancements to the embeddable Slideshow

Responding to your requests, we have added the following enhancements to the embeddable Slideshow:

• The option to Auto-start. Once enabled, the Slideshow will start playing automatically as soon as it is loaded in the browser.


• Ability to have transparent background and no border. This makes it easier to integrate with any site background.


• Ability to hide both the top bar and the bottom controller bar for a simple and clean presentation.

Other Enhancements:

• New and updated online Help. It will become searchable very soon.


• Added a special Print button to Order Details pages to make them more legible when printed.


• We are now using USPS and FedEx URLs directly for tracking order shipments.


• Improved visibility of the default Print Ordering settings by displaying them in the Main Area of the Edit View.


• Esc key can cancel Add to Cart popup window to save time.


• Added a new subcategory: Sports > Triathlon.

We are now focusing on the next major release scheduled for the end of the year. This release will include Theme customizations and new Home page layouts.

By uploading photos to Zenfolio once, you can then use the new Export feature to move selected photos to your Flickr or Facebook accounts. Export allows you to select destination albums/photosets, privacy settings, as well as apply a branded watermark that can be prepared just for this purpose. For example, you can have your logo placed in a corner of every image at 100% opacity during export to Facebook while keeping your original files on Zenfolio untouched.

We have also renamed the 'Send Link' button in the Visitor View to Share to reflect that in addition to viewing all the provided URLs, you can now quickly share photos with friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter. You will also find this ability to share in the Edit View, so go ahead and get "social" with your photos!

Drag-n-Drop Sorting of Photos

We know many of you will love this feature. You can select one or many thumbnails in the Edit View and drag them into a new location. This makes manual sorting as easy as doing it on your computer. We were also able to eliminate thumbnail pagination from the Edit View and replace it with a scrollbar and dynamically loading thumbnails. This works faster and allows you to quickly drag photos into a new order no matter how many photos you have.

Other Enhancements:

• Thumbnails in the Edit View display a small W icon in a corner if watermarks are applied to make them easy to identify.


• You have voted and we delivered: visitors and photographers can batch Download Original Files from an entire gallery/collection. Visitors access this feature from a photo overlay menu, if enabled by photographer, by moving their mouse over any large image. Photographers can also access this feature from the Edit View under Photo Actions. This is in addition to the Zenfolio Downloader tool available to account owners.


• E-mail addresses are now optionally collected while leaving photo comments and guestbook entries to make it easier to reply.


• Added new subcategory: Sports > Watersports > Surfing

The Shopping Cart received a small facelift by having Paper types, Framing and Mounting, and other options more discoverable.

Photobox offers a range of print sizes on Fuji Crystal gloss and matt papers, as well as specialty photo products. To enable Photobox products in your account, click Edit in the Print Ordering section of the Toolbox and tick the checkbox next to it. All Photobox products are available for shipping anywhere in the world, excluding US and Canada, which are served by the Mpix lab.

As part of this announcement we are very happy to introduce support for multiple currencies on Zenfolio. This multi-currency project has been in the works for many months and represents a major leap in photographers' ability to service customers globally.

This means that you can immediately start selling Digital Products and Custom Products in 18 currencies:

• Mpix products are available in USD and CAD
• Photobox products are available in GBP and EUR
• IYP products are available in USD, CAD, GBP, and EUR

NOTE: we have made sure that nothing has changed for the current US based customers in regards to their prices and price lists; it is business as usual.

Details relating to using multiple currencies

Price lists can contain products in multiple currencies, you will need to first add a new currency tab to your price list and then add products to each currency separately.

Digital Products do not belong to any one currency and can be added to any currency in your price list.

Each Custom Product has a currency it belongs to. If you would like to offer the same custom product in several currencies, you need to define new custom product per currency and then add it to a corresponding currency tab in the price list.

Coupons and Shipping Methods are also set up per currency. You can use the same coupon code across coupons in different currencies.

The balance for each currency is maintained independently in your Zenfolio account. Payouts are available to request via PayPal in the specific currency, if you have a balance in it.

Shopping Cart Improvements

• Customers are now able to use PayPal as a payment type for order checkout.

Sales Tax

There is now a separate Sales Tax page under SELLING to configure tax rules for your orders. When you specify sales tax, it will apply to partner-fulfilled orders as well as your custom orders. Sales tax can be setup per state or per country. There is an option to apply tax to shipping charges as well.

Sales Reports

Sales reports have been redesigned to make them more useful and easier to read. In addition, a new Taxes report was added showing sales taxes and/or VAT broken down by country.

Embed a Slideshow of Your Photos on Other Web Sites

By popular demand, a Flash-based embeddable Slideshow is now available under MORE RESOURCES. You can create a standalone slideshow from any gallery or collection in your account in almost any size, and then post it to any Web site that allows including objects. This is similar to embedding a YouTube video. Adding music to slideshows is coming in the next release.

Other New Features and Improvements Include:

• Introduced two new Themes: Baby Boy and Baby Girl.
• Premium users: there is now a way to disable displaying Best Fit in the Add to Cart window. If you force cropping in your price list to be Centered or Fit, Best Fit will be disabled.
• Option added under Customizing Visitor View > Options to hide pagination from thumbnail pages and force all thumbnails to be loaded all the time.
• Added new Subcategories:
• Sports > Skating > Roller Derby
• Sports > Skating > Figure Skating
• Sports > Skating > Speed Skating
• Sports > Jump Rope

• Search field styling was updated on all Visitor View pages, it is now rounded and more elegant
• The popular software program Photo Mechanic now offers built-in support for uploading photos directly to your Zenfolio account

We have also lowered the service fee for self-fulfilled custom orders to 4% (down from 6%). Combined with the new option to use your own PayPal account for collecting payments, Zenfolio now offers the most complete solution for both photographers wishing to fulfill their own orders and those who wish to use Zenfolio print partners.

Adding External Web Site as a Custom Home Page

We have studied carefully how many professional photographers integrate Zenfolio into their workflow and came up with an innovative way of making Zenfolio an even better client proofing site.

Premium users now have a choice of adding an external portfolio web site in place of the Zenfolio Home page. Your Display Name and the Home link on all your pages will take viewers to an address determined by the preferences you set. You will find this feature in the Preferences of your Premium account.

Price List Improvements

• Price Lists can be printed neatly using the special Print function


• Ability to export Price Lists in CSV format compatible with Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs


• Full control over the sorting order of items presented in the Add to Cart window using an easy to use drag-and-drop interface. Give this one a try, the simplicity of rearranging items cannot be overstated.

Introducing New Vendor: fotoflōt

We have added fotoflōt as a new vendor to the Zenfolio E-Commerce platform. Photographers are now able to sell frameless fotoflōt prints by setting their own prices and making a profit. fotoflōts are innovative products printed on real photographic paper, bonded to hard acrylic surface, and laser-cut to size, resulting in extremely precise edges. They come with innovative magnetic mounting hardware for displaying on your desk or hanging on a wall. Try ordering one and you will be hooked!

Announcing Integration with the Eye-Fi Cards

We are very happy to announce that you can use the Eye-Fi cards to upload wirelessly to your Zenfolio account from any Wi-Fi enabled location. The Eye-Fi card stores photos like a traditional memory card, and fits in most cameras. When you turn your camera on within range of a configured Wi-Fi network, it can wirelessly transfer photos to your Zenfolio account. Learn more about the Eye-Fi cards.

Other New Features and Improvements Include:

• Introduced two new Themes: Romantic and Vintage


• Availability of the Express Send to Zenfolio third-party tool for Windows. Installing this tool on your Windows computer allows batch uploading of photos and folders by using the 'Send to Zenfolio' menu on right-click.


• Added "Best Fit" option to the Add to Cart window to help customers make the best selection from available product sizes based on the aspect ratio of the selected photo.


• The Zenfolio site is now fully compatible with the recently released Internet Explorer 8 web browser. If you are still using the Internet Explorer 6 browser, please consider upgrading. The new versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox are much faster and more secure than IE6.


• Added the ability to save a Free shipping method for custom products. This is particularly useful if you are personally fulfilling and delivering orders, and there is no need to charge for shipping. Setting the shipping price to 0.00 automatically displays FREE in the Shopping Cart.

New Mpix products and services

We continue to bring you the benefits of our partnership with Mpix as they make available new products and services:

• added 20"x20" size print in all paper finishes
• added magnets as a new product in two sizes: 2"x3.5" and 3"x4.5"
• added a two-sided acrylic key chain product
• Lustre coating is now available for Metallic prints
• introduced tracking numbers for USPS Priority Mail and USPS First Class orders. This is really big as customers are able to track and get delivery confirmation on all shipping methods with no additional charge.
• 5"x5" and 5"x7" size prints in quantities under 50 are now eligible to be shipped using the inexpensive USPS First Class mail service. All small size prints up to the size of 5"x7" can now be shipped using this economical method.

With the introduction of Digital Products, photographers have the ability to define almost any downloadable product with custom licensing terms, at any price. Here is what is included:

• Four standard licenses, provided by Zenfolio
• The ability to create your own custom licenses by modifying the sample licenses or pasting in your own licenses
• Many image size options to choose from including your own custom dimensions
• Create a digital product with fixed image dimensions. A cropping tool will become available in the Shopping Cart so users can crop based on defined dimensions. A good example of this would be creating iPhone wallpaper which has to be specific dimensions.
• Create almost any product available for download, including original full size files, desktop backgrounds, Web avatars, iPhone wallpapers, etc.
• Zenfolio charges a 8% service fee, which is one of the lowest fees in the industry
• Order e-mails are sent to photographer and clients when the order is placed, with links to the download page
• Photographer can still review and approve orders, including uploading new files and making cropping adjustments, if needed
• Zenfolio stores downloads for 30 days
• Customers can download individual photos, or a complete order as a ZIP file

Redesigned price list editing

The new price list editing pages are many times faster than before and allow you to manage many products easily. As part of this redesign we have introduced separate formulas for each product category including a dedicated formula for framing and mounting. Look for more more related features coming soon including export to Excel and printing.

Friendly URLs

You can now use plain words to create easy links to group, gallery, or collection pages (such as http://demo.zenfolio.com/weddings). You can use letters, numbers, and some punctuation including dash '-' and a slash '/'. This works with custom domain names as well.

Updated Reports

We have overhauled the Reports to make them more consistent and easier to understand. We've added a Summary report and a Coupons report under SELLING > Reports. The Summary report makes it easy to view high level financials for any time period. Coupons are now accounted for everywhere in the reports.

Additional Visitor View page customizations

New setting in Customize Visitor View > Options provides the ability to hide the path to the Gallery/Collection/Group (also known as breadcrumbs) displayed at the top of a Visitor page.

Private paths no longer display in breadcrumbs on Visitor pages allowing you to create "branches" in your organizational hierarchy. This really helps keep visitors focused on specific galleries or groups. For example, if you have a private group in the middle of a path to a gallery, the path leading to that group and the group itself will be hidden from your visitors.

"Publish to Zenfolio" plug-in for Windows Live Photo Gallery

Released a plug-in to export to Zenfolio directly out of Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you are not familiar with this product from Microsoft, it is a free application used for managing and previewing photos on your Windows XP or Vista system.

Other feature enhancements

In addition, the following enhancements were released:

• Streamlined Account Statement with mini summary reports for each order sold
• Added easier access to links from the Edit View
• In the Add to Cart window we have renamed 'Back to Categories' to 'Back to All Products' to help navigation

Photo Comments and Guestbook Features

This is a fully functional implementation and includes the following features:

• Available Guestbook allow visitors to post messages on your Home page as well as any group, gallery or collection. Photo Comments are associated with individual photos.
• Photographers have full control over allowing or disallowing photo comments or a guestbook for any group, gallery, collection, or individual photograph
• Ability to allow Public (for anyone), Private (for photographer only), or both types of comments and guestbook entries
• Control over non-registered users leaving comments
• New E-mail Notification Preferences which control how often you are notified when new entries are posted to your pages. Options include sending immediate e-mail (default), daily, or weekly e-mail digests.
• A new comment browser makes it easy to read all the comments attached to photos in a single gallery
• Photo comments offer special tools including suggesting alternate cropping or bringing attention to a specific area of a photo
• Entries can be edited or deleted later by registered users
• Photographers can customize how much presence comments are given on photo pages, including the display of the Last Comment left

By default, all current users have this feature turned OFF. If you would like to enable it, select the item you would like to apply this to in the Organizer (such as your home page or a specific gallery), then click the Edit link in the Access Control section of the Toolbox. You can enable both Photo Comments and the Guestbook under the Comments tab in the Access Control window.

Other feature enhancements

In addition, the following enhancements were released:

• Your own page views will no longer be counted by Google Analytics when you are logged in
• Theme selected for the Visitor View is now displayed in the Edit View (listed in the Cover Photo section of the Toolbox)
• Improved photo Title and Caption alignment for photo layouts with a centered image

New Mpix products and services

We continue to extend our integration with the Mpix Lab:

• New 24" x 36" print size which was made available a few weeks ago from Mpix.
  This print size is available in E-Surface Color Paper finish only, and it is possible to add double-weight backboard, foam core mounting, and Lustre coating to it during checkout. No frames are available for this large size print.
• Added 4"x8" custom blank greeting cards.
  You can print greetings with your own design by applying it to this full image card
• It is now possible to mix prints of the same size with mounting and framing services in the same order, this saves on shipping charges
• Lustre coating service was added for greeting cards, magazine covers, and other specialty prints

Our next release will include selling digital products, which we have been working on concurrently.

Support for Google Analytics for visitor tracking

We have added support for Google Analytics to collect detailed visitor statistics. You can find the new Visitor Tracking page under the PREFERENCES menu. This is available for all Zenfolio plan levels.

Google Analytics is a free tool that allows you to collect aggregate information about visitors to your Zenfolio pages, such as the number of unique visitors over time, their location, length of visits, and much more. For more information about Google Analytics visit the main Google Analytics home page.

Introduced a new Theme: Eco

We have a new Theme designed called Eco. This design was inspired by clean air and green leaves. We hope nature lovers will find it particularly suitable for nature photography.

Sorting of photos is now "sticky"

We have been wanting to change how photos and galleries are sorted for a while, and this is finally here. Now the sorting criteria you select for a gallery or group is going to apply all the time, no longer do you need to resort after uploading new photos. In the process we have also fixed a bug where sorting of sequentially numbered files was not consistent with desktop sorting.

New Mpix products and services

We continue adding support for more Mpix products:

• Three new print sizes: 8.5"x11", 9"x12", 12"x24"
• Wall Clings products, all sizes
• Three new square Standout sizes: 8"x8", 10"x10", 20"x20"
• New foam core backboard mounting

Brand new Frame Editor with support for new frames and options:

• Sixteen (16) different frames available for all print sizes
• Frames can be ordered with an actual overlaid mat in two colors: white or black
• Frames can be ordered with no glass, standard glass, or non-glare glass

Also note that we had to rename matboards to backboards to eliminate the confusion with the framing mats introduced as an available option.

Larger 200px thumbnails

By popular demand, we are introducing a large 200px thumbnail size. Photos uploaded after September 12th, 2008 have this new thumbnail size available immediately. Photos uploaded prior to September 12th, 2008, will have this thumbnail size generated the first time it is accessed, which may take a few minutes.

Current users need to explicitly select this new thumbnail size under Customize Visitor View > Options when looking at the Home page or Group and Gallery pages. There are three Auto settings there now:

• Auto 1 (Small and Medium) – this is what we had in the past, and this continues to be the default for your pages
• Auto 2 (Medium and Large)
• Auto 3 (Small, Medium, Large)

New features and improvements:

• It is now possible to include a Password Hint for password protected items. You will find it in the newly redesigned Access Control window.
• New coupon type "Discount to base prices". Using such coupon during Checkout will change product prices to base cost. This has been requested by many users and is particularly handy when you have friends or family wanting to buy prints that are otherwise marked up. Can also work as a promotion for clients (Premium feature)
• Focal length is added to short EXIF whenever available
• By popular request the Login link in the Visitor View is moved to the footer when Zenfolio brand is replaced with your name under Global Preferences (Premium feature)
• Increased the number of characters allowed in the gallery and photo captions (up to 10,000 characters) and in the About Me field (up to 10,000 characters). Titles can now be up to 200 characters long.
• A notice is posted to your Home page in the Edit View if there are pending orders that need your attention (Premium feature)
• Access Control window was redesigned to better separate items and make room for new items
• It is now possible to view the actual password assigned to photos. This applies to all new passwords assigned after this update. Passwords assigned prior to the date of this update cannot be viewed, but they can be typed over.
• If disabled by owner in the price list, the Cropping link will not be displayed in the Cart. Same for Color Enhancement and Color Conversion options. This eliminates any client confusion during Checkout (Premium feature).
• New page under PREFERENCES called Upload Settings includes the option to copy file names to photo Titles for all future uploaded photos as a new default. This option is disabled by default, can be enabled.
• There is a new page under MORE RESOURCES called Spread the Word, it includes information about using Zenfolio referral buttons with a referral code embedded in a URL. Several button designs are provided in two sizes each.
• Better grouping of transactions in the Account Statement makes it easier to read them

Our next release will include user Comments functionality which we have been working on concurrently.

In preparation for the upcoming release of the Comments functionality, we have rewritten all Visitor pages. Visitor pages now load much faster, navigate smoother, they are easier to customize, and include underlying support for the comments and other upcoming enhancements.

We have decided not to wait until the comments are ready, and release these changes to the site with many improvements that can be utilized right away.

There are many new options available for customizing Visitor pages now under Customize Visitor View > Options. With these options available, you can really make your pages clean and simple:

• The ability to hide identifying icons, such as gallery/collection/group
• The ability to hide access control locks for a cleaner presentation
• The ability to display cover photo thumbnail in place of a group folder graphic. Many of you have asked for a better representation of a group.
• Gallery/collection pages can display photo Titles below thumbnails. This makes it easier to select photos just by looking at thumbnails.
• You can customize which fields are displayed under each thumbnail on all visitor pages

Other improvements to Visitor pages include:

• The new Dim-the-Lights mode replaces Larger Image view, you don't want to miss this one. You can click any image to open it.
• The Slideshow gets a Close button and an option to auto-show titles/captions
• Featured section on your Home page now displays as many items as you add to it. It was only displaying two rows previously.
• Keywords became clickable and result in search queries for your account. Long live tagging!

We have been working closely with Mpix on adding many of their products and services to the Zenfolio site. With this release, the following products are now available for ordering to you and your customers:

• Trader Cards (26 templates in several colors each)

Additional changes affecting ordering from Mpix are:

• The ability to mix different paper types in the same order
• Support for backprinting on the E-Surface Color paper prints. Premium users can find this option under SELLING > Selling Preferences
• Shipping rates from Mpix are increasing by $1 across all shipping methods.
• Specialty photo products include product configuration interface with previews and customizations

New Zenfolio Premium features

With a large number of print products now available on the site, we are introducing product Categories for easier Add to Cart navigation. Click the Add to Cart button in this gallery for a preview. Premium users can still enable "flat view" in their price lists, if desired.

One important change that we know many of you have been waiting for is the ability to hide vendor name from the Checkout flow, customer e-mails, and order packaging. This is now possible with all current vendors. Premium users can make this change under SELLING > Selling Preferences.

Other new features include:

• Larger thumbnail size in the Cart with improved cropping notifications
• Cropping window showing print-safe area
• Updated order Approval page displays file names and allows changes to Color Correction and other settings. Time stamps now include seconds for sports shooters.

And last but not least is Premium users can request profit payouts using PayPal now. There is no fee for PayPal payouts, and the way we have implemented this, PayPal does not charge you fees, either. This is really a win-win situation for everyone.

We have also worked with the Imagine Your Photos company to lower the image resolution requirements for their photo products. You can see the new requirements posted on the updated page.

All pages on Zenfolio collecting sensitive credit card and personal information are now protected with the best SSL encryption technology from VeriSign.

In other news, Zenfolio and fotoflōt have teamed up to offer Zenfolio users an innovative way to display digital images. fotoflōts present photographs without glass, frames or mats using breakthrough digital imaging and mounting technologies.

Zenfolio members receive a special discount on all fotoflōt purchases. And the best part is that you can access your Zenfolio galleries and photos directly from the fotoflōt site by providing user name and password.

We are happy to introduce a new fulfillment partner to the Zenfolio e-commerce platform. Please welcome Imagine Your Photos gift fulfillment company based in Miami, Florida. The IYP Photo Products company delivers the highest quality photo merchandising by using the latest imaging and transfer technologies on a variety of surfaces. You can find out more about the company and their products here. The new products are available immediately to ship anywhere in the world, and we will be adding more products from them over time.

If you are an existing Zenfolio customer, and would like to make available the new IYP Photo Products, you will need to enable them under the Print Ordering or add them to your price list.

Color Correction is Now ON by Default for Mpix Products

One of the best services the Mpix lab offers is the Color Correction service. An actual trained and experienced technician analyzes each image and makes subtle adjustments to ensure the best color reproduction, sharpness, and density. And the best part is that this service is included free of charge.

We have always offered this service from Mpix but it had to be explicitly selected in the Cart. We were so impressed with the results that it is going to be turned ON by default now. For those who do not care for it, you can still disable it in the Cart and in your price lists.

New Mpix Products

We are adding three new value products from Mpix. The three value sizes are 3.5"x5", 4"x5", and 4"x6" printed on Kodak Professional Endura E-Surface Color paper. The best part is that these prints are only 19 cents each. The new products can only be ordered with no color correction applied.

Several New Features and Fixes

This release also includes several new features and a number of bug fixes. Here is the list:

• The ability to Copy one or many photos to another gallery instead of re-uploading
• Groups, galleries, and collections can now be sorted by Date Created, Date Modified, and Title.
• There was an intermittent problem while using the Firefox Web browser where some buttons did not always respond to user input. This problem is now fixed.
• If you have IPTC Copyright field filled out in your uploaded photos, it will now correctly transfer and display next to your photos avoiding the double © symbol problem.
• Many of you have told us that you want a link to the user forums to be available from the Edit View. We are happy to oblige.
• Added three new subcategories for "Sports > Water Sports > Kayaking", "Sports > Water Sports > Rafting", and "Transportation > Spacecraft"

Infrastructure Upgrade

With this release we have significantly increased our storage and transaction capacity. A lot of work has been done behind the scenes to ensure smooth growth and scalability.

Zenfolio Team Blog will help us better communicate our thoughts and ideas about the service, as well as generate discussions around photography subjects in general. Please visit often and leave comments.

Here is how it works:

• When a new order is received, it is placed on hold, and you immediately receive an e-mail notification. You can then login to your account and review the order.
• While you are reviewing an order, you can make changes to Cropping. You can see the original customer-selected cropping and make changes to it, if needed.
• You can also replace the original photo files used in the order. This is particularly useful if you want to apply additional image processing but you only want to do that to the photos that are ordered, to save time. Or you may choose to initially upload low resolution files, and once an order is placed, upload high resolution files cropped for specific print sizes.
• When you are finished making changes, click Approve, and the order will be submitted for fulfillment.

To select the option to have your orders approved first, open a price list from the SELLING>Price List page, and make the choice at the top. Don't forget to Save. This is also where you can edit the message displayed to your customers about the potential fulfillment delay.

We have also updated the upload protocol to make it more robust and resilient to file upload interruptions caused by fluctuations in Internet connection quality.

Something else we have been working on for a while is a more streamlined Shopping Cart checkout. Registration is no longer required when buying prints and other photo products. While there are advantages to opening a free account during the checkout, the default option is to continue with a Guest checkout.

We have also improved Cart pages by removing information that was not needed, and by adding Ordering FAQ with answers to the most common questions that may arise during ordering.

Building up on the available Zenfolio Public API, we have two new upload tools available.

• Apple iPhoto '08 Export Plug-in is an internal product featuring a streamlined interface to match the ease of use of iPhoto.
• Export-to-Zenfolio is a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom that allows uploading photos to Zenfolio directly from Lightroom. This plug-in was developed by Jeffrey Friedl and it is available directly from his Web site. Please take a minute to leave a "thank you" note for Jeffrey for developing this very useful tool that we now use every day ourselves.

A small but useful addition is the ability to read the IPTC Copyright field from uploaded photos, and copy it into the photo Copyright field on Zenfolio. This happens automatically when you upload original photos.

Lastly, a small update to the way the Cart link is displayed at the top of Visitor pages. The Cart link is now displayed only if something was added to it.

The Premium plan lets you create a fully-functional Web store with customizable look-and-feel and flexible price lists. Here are the highlights:

Create price lists of products by adding markups to base lab prices

The price lists can be assigned to individual photos or entire galleries. This process is completely transparent to clients, who experience the ease and simplicity of ordering prints and other products, and receive a package delivered directly from the lab.

You can use our partner labs or your own

In addition to fulfilling products through Zenfolio partner labs, photographers have a choice of creating and fulfilling their own custom products. Zenfolio Premium subscribers can offer products fulfilled through any lab of their choice, or they can print photos themselves.

Apply custom Watermarks to photos for extra protection

Create and assign custom watermarks with full control over placement and opacity. Supported watermark file formats include JPEG, TIFF, GIF, and PNG with transparency. Original uploaded photos are not watermarked so they can be used for ordering prints.

Replace Zenfolio logo and name with your own

For additional visitor page customization you can replace Zenfolio logo and links with your own name to make it look more personalized. This powerful option makes the site look yours with a click of a button. Combine that with using your own domain name and you have a branded Web store with all the benefits of Zenfolio under your name.

Use Coupons for extra marketing help and promotions

You can create your own coupons including percent-off and amount-based discounts with expiration dates, specified number of uses, and order minimums.

Detailed sales reports

Review and download detailed sales reports compatible with any spreadsheet program. Reports include Orders, Products, Customers, Coupons, and Photos based on any time period and sorted any way you want.

Unlimited storage with individual file uploads up to 24MB each

Zenfolio Premium plan subscribers can upload files up to 24MB each to support super large print sizes. And, of course, there is no storage or bandwidth limit.

Pricing

The Zenfolio Premium subscription plan is priced at USD$100 per year. Until December 31, 2007, current and new users can sign up for the Zenfolio Premium plan at the special discounted price of USD$80 per year. This special price will stay with you for as long as you remain a subscriber.

For orders fulfilled through the Zenfolio partner labs, there is a service fee of 12% which includes credit card transaction fees and customer service. For custom orders fulfilled and charged by photographers directly, the service fee is 6%.

Try before you Buy

All current Zenfolio users, including Basic and Unlimited subscribers, will have access to all the Premium features until November 30, 2007. This allows you to try before deciding to upgrade. NOTE: if you do not upgrade by November 30, the Premium features will be automatically removed from your account along with any related items you create during the trial, e.g. watermarks, price lists, custom products.

The Premium subscription plan will include more professional features such as offering products for sale at custom prices, creating and applying watermarks, and a complete front end to order fulfillment. It should be available as soon as we are finished hunting down bugs.

In the meantime, current users can enjoy these new features:

• Museum – tasteful accents on dark background bring the right amount of attention to details without distraction
• Bricks – dark and edgy, this theme is great for B&W and street-scene shots. What's on your brick wall?
• White Sand – clean and airy, this light-colored theme is like a day in a desert

Completely redesigned Print Ordering controls

It is now a lot easier to control which galleries and photos are allowed to be printed, as well as to manage which Zenfolio partner lab should be doing the fulfillment. If you are not into making your photos available for printing, just select your Home page in the Organizer and confirm that "Do not allow print ordering" option is selected.

You can now access Slideshow directly from the Edit View while working on organizing your photos (this is for you, fishpix).

Lastly, we have increased the file size limit for uploads to 12MB per file to accommodate the latest swell in camera sensor sizes.

• Zenfolio Downloader is a free tool based on the Zenfolio Public API making it easy to download back original full size files previously uploaded to your Zenfolio account. It is very easy to use and it makes your Zenfolio account a true backup solution. Download it here.
  
• EXIF information in generated images. Some of you have been waiting for this for a while, and it is finally here. The resized display images generated for your uploaded photos now include the same basic EXIF metadata as the original files, including shooting information, camera make and model, copyright field, and even the IPTC Copyright, if present. It will take a couple of weeks for the system to index all previously uploaded photos, but all newly uploaded photos will have this available right away.
  
• An e-mail notification is now sent to you when you earn referral credit
  
• It is now possible to add or move photos from one collection to another collection as a batch operation
  

Additional bug fixes and small improvements are also part of this update. Here is the complete list:

• 'Clear formatting' option was added to HTML-editing fields
• An option for links to be opened in the same window was added to HTML-editing fields
• More robust handling of files with color spaces other than sRGB
• Fixed a problem with using double-quotes in IPTC keywords

• Fixed a problem with left and right quotation marks not being recognized as IPTC keywords
• API: included a way to sort photosets and change the position of a photo in a photoset

Here are the highlights of the new features:

• It is now possible to include clickable links and formatted text in captions and descriptions. No HTML knowledge is needed, all the formatting is done using visual rich-edit tools similar to the ones found in Microsoft Word.
• It is now possible to assign cover photos to Groups. A new design of group icons was implemented allowing the assignment of any of your photos as a cover. Or you can leave the default icon – your choice.
• You can subscribe to RSS or Atom feeds for Recently Added and Featured items, as well as for any gallery or collection
• Searching individual user's photos is now the default search from all visitor pages. Search can also be completely turned off.
• A new option under Access Control allows you to specify what is added to and displayed in your Recently Added list of items
• Ordering your own prints can now be done directly from the Edit View

The Zenfolio API provides outside developers with the same features and functionality of the Zenfolio platform used internally for our own development. The Zenfolio API is platform-independent and is based on open standards. It can be used from any programming language on any platform as long as it supports sending and receiving HTTP requests.

The following Help chapter provides detailed information describing the Zenfolio API.

As the first example of using the Zenfolio API, David Holmes has written a plug-in for Apple Aperture. The ApertureToZenfolio plug-in allows for uploading of photos to Zenfolio directly from with the Aperture application.

Zenfolio team has been hard at work for months integrating with not just one, but two very different photofinishing labs. And the underlying e-commerce platform allows us to add more labs in the future including different geographies.

Zenfolio is very excited to have full integration with EZ Prints and Mpix. Read more about these partner labs under Prints & Products.

And be assured that with this foundation in place, we are working on extending the E-commerce platform to allow photographers to set their own custom pricing and sell for profit in the near future.

This is a major release marking our first anniversary of going live with the service exactly one year ago. The following features and enhancements are immediately available:

Powerful Shopping Cart Built for Photographers

Built from the ground up for photographers, this is the most powerful and streamlined shopping cart of its kind. The Cart features such innovations as ordering products from multiple vendors, applying additional services such as mounting and framing, and performing precision cropping using advanced cropping tools. The end result is a smooth checkout flow making purchasing a continuous and elegant extension of viewing photos.

Integrated Add to Cart Interface

Purchasing a print or a photo product begins with an Add to Cart menu on a photo page and takes a user through the vendor and product selection in easy to follow steps. The Add to Cart interface is fully integrated with visitor pages matching them in Theme and style.

Advanced Crop Tool

A robust cropping tool is available as part of Cart configuration. Cropping options include:

• Auto crop trims off a small area of an image if it does not fit the aspect ratio of a print
• Fit includes the entire image area even if that means having small white margins
• Manual crop with rotation and edge-snapping

Three New Themes

Introduced three new themes:

• Cosmic - make your photos bright constellations with this theme in the background
• Antique - aged parchment and rusty leather folios provide timeless backdrop
• Zenbaby - designed specifically for surrounding images of little ones, giving the warm pastel colors and lots of toys to play with.

Managing Email Notifications

Preferences: Email Notifications: you are now in control of e-mail messages you receive from Zenfolio. You can select what types of communications you would like to receive and opt out of the ones you don't.

Slideshow usability is improved

A few people have pointed out that the captions in the Slideshow were too intrusive and covered up sizable portion of images. We have addressed the issue by introducing mouse-over captions with subtle notification.

Transitions, or fades, can now be disabled for those who do not fancy them. And we have labeled the playback speed controller to make it easier to find and use.

Zenfolio Web site was refreshed with new featured photographers and redesigned pages

The front page is now cleaner and easier to read. We have added new work from some outstanding featured photographers. We are very proud to have such talented and enthusiastic users.

The Overview page was redesigned completely, and we have added a lot of screenshots. It now looks more polished and presents information in a more organized fashion.

The Tour was updated with the newest features.

Put Together your Favorite Collections

Collections can be used to save links to photos from you and other Zenfolio users. You can now reference the same photo in several Collections without having to upload the photo many times. Collections are also great for saving together photos from several Zenfolio users taken at the same event or location. Or for collecting in one place your favorite photos on a specific subject. There are many ways to use Collections so be creative!

As opposed to Galleries, Collections hold only links to the photos but not the actual files. And if you wish, you can specify to not allow your photographs to be added to Collections by others.

Free Subscriptions for Registered Visitors

Registered Visitors can save photographs from other Zenfolio users in Collections, and show them on their own Home page with a custom address. Registration takes less than a minute and subscription is completely free.

Ability to Setup Custom Domain Name

This was a highly requested feature that we are certain will make your galleries look even more custom. If you have your own domain name registered you can now setup the CNAME record for it to point to your Zenfolio account. It will become the address to your Home page and all the links to your photo pages and galleries will begin with it. If you are an Unlimited plan subscriber, check Preferences for more details.

Larger Thumbnails

By popular demand we are bringing out larger 120px thumbnails in addition to the existing ones. The new thumbnails have more than double the size of the original thumbnails. By default, smaller thumbnails are displayed for lower screen resolutions, and larger thumbnails are displayed for higher screen resolutions achieving the best presentation experience across all screen resolutions. Users can override this default in either direction on a per gallery basis.

Current Themes and Layouts Updated

Complete overhaul of current page layouts resulted in more functional pages and more customization options. All current themes received visual enhancements and improvements.

Other new features include:

You give us feedback and we keep making Zenfolio better. This update includes many usability improvements, bug fixes, and new features. The following is an outline of main changes:

Big "thank you" to our Beta users and the hard working team at Zenfolio for finishing everything in time for the launch.

Zenfolio service now features complete photo management and organization functionality including galleries and groups. Six beautiful Themes combined with page Layouts create truly impactful and elegant presentations.

The service also features industry-leading access control management applied from the Home page level down to individual photographs including options to password-protect, limit access to a list of users, and making items private as well as public.

We are particularly proud of the image processing quality we were able to achieve. The uploaded full size photographs are converted to display images in six different sizes using the best quality resizing algorithms available. The resulting images preserve the fidelity of the originals when displayed across all screen sizes.

And last but not least is the Search & Browse functionality. Powerful queries search descriptions, including keywords, categories, titles, and captions returning results in your choice of galleries or photographs. The Browse option gives visitors access to the Most Popular, Recent, and subject-matching galleries and photos with a single mouse click.
